Fairfield Fire Truck Hit By Speeding Pickup At I-95 Crash Scene
A fire truck was damaged when a pickup truck allegedly rammed into it on I-95 in Fairfield County as police and fire were working at an earlier crash on the highway. The incident took place in Fairfield around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12 in the southbound lanes of the highway. The Fairfield Fire Department responded to the report of a vehicle crash with injuries at Exit 21 and Mill Plain Road, said Fairfield Fire Department officials. Police Officer Injured During Rear-End Crash In Hutchinson Parkway
A Westchester County police officer was injured when his police car was rear-ended by a vehicle while he was making a traffic stop with his emergency lights on. The crash took place around 1:49 a.m., Thursday, June 17, northbound on the Hutchinson River Parkway just north of Mamaroneck Road in Scarsdale, said Kieran O'Leary of the Westchester County Police. Although many residents are reconsidering typical Thanksgiving gatherings in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, state troopers in Connecticut still plan to heighten patrols over the holiday, targeting aggressive and drunk drivers. State Police said they arrested 52 drivers for driving while intoxicated over Thanksgiving weekend in 2019 and ticketed 385 drivers for speeding. 74 Tickets Dished Out In I-684 Distracted Driving Detail
Dozens of tickets were doled out by New York State Police troopers during a special distracted driving enforcement operation in Westchester County along the I-684 corridor. During the detail, which was “conducted in furtherance of (New York State Police’s) mission to ensure highway safety for all users of the roadway,” on Friday, Oct. 16 in Somers, troopers issued a total of 74 tickets for speeding, distracted driving and other vehicle and traffic violations on the interstate. State Police Ramp Up Patrols For July 4th Travel
As thousands of drivers travel in record numbers during the upcoming extended holiday weekend, Connecticut State Troopers said they will patrol in increased numbers to keep roads and highways safe for all drivers. July 4 is on Wednesday, allowing a mid-week excursion for beach outings, cookouts and fireworks. Man, 21, Charged Carrying More Than 8 Pounds Of Pot In Bridgeport Stop
Connecticut State Police have arrested a 21-year-old man after seizing more than eight pounds of marijuana during an overnight traffic stop. State police said that at about 12:15 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 29, troopers from Troop G- Bridgeport were completing a motor vehicle stop on Route 8 southbound near exit 7 when a Volkswagen Passat drove past the stationary state police cruisers (with emergency lights activated) in the right lane nearly sideswiping a cruiser.
