CT Man Admits To Posing As Dead Sister To Steal Benefits A man in Connecticut has admitted to posing as his dead sister in a scheme to steal benefits from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Woodstock resident John Deppert, 64, pleaded guilty in Hartford federal court to one count of theft of government property in relation to his scam to steal tens of thousands of dollars, U.S. Attorney John Durham announced.
