27-Year-Old Struck, Killed By SUV On CT Roadway ID'd As Off-Duty Firefighter
An off-duty Connecticut firefighter died after he was struck following a five-vehicle crash.
New Haven Firefighter Thomas Mieles, age 27, was driving north on I-91 when his car became disabled in the left lane around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2.
Mieles, of New Haven, who was outside of his car, died when he was hit by an SUV during the crash, said the Connecticut State Police.

Firefighter Killed, One Critically Injured Battling CT House Blaze
A firefighter was killed and three others injured, one critically, during a house fire in Connecticut.
The blaze broke out around 1 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, in New Haven, on Valley Street, officials said.
New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker said the firefighter was killed battling the fire, and three others, who had to be rescued, were injured, including one critically.
"One firefighter is in the burn unit at Bridgeport Hospital," the Mayor said.
The other two received minor injuries.
A pair of residents were also rescued, but were not injured, Elicker said.
