'Heartless': Severely Neglected Dog Found Wandering CT City Street; $6K Reward Offered For Info
A tiny Yorkshire Terrier, now named Johnny Mac, was found severely malnourished, seriously injured, and near death last month. Now, a local aid group is offering $6,000 to someone who can help investigators track down who did this to the dog. Johnny Mac was found wandering on Thorpe Avenue in Meriden on Wednesday, Feb. 26. He had no collar and no microchip but a host of medical issues. Woman Charged In Deaths Of Dogs In Fairfield County Has Month To Take Plea Deal Or Face Jury
A Fairfield County woman who was arrested in connection with the deaths of five dogs left in her care was given a month to decide if she will take a plea deal or go to trial. Heidi Lueders, 31, of New Canaan, was first arrested for the crimes following the discovery of five dead dogs in crates at a rented Fairfield home in November 2018 by Fairfield Police. But due to pressure from animal rights groups, prosecutors upgraded the charges to felonies on Wednesday, Feb. 13. A miniature schnauzer might have died horribly when he was burned to death, but a lot of love is coming from the public in the form of donations to help find the person or people who committed the crime. The dog was found around 10 a.m., Friday, July 5, when the West Haven Police responded to the area of Beach Street near Third Avenue/Second Avenue for a report of an uncontained fire in the Sandy Point Beach parking lot, said West Haven Police Sgt. The past president of a New Canaan dog rescue group charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty following the discovery of five dead dogs in her home had the charges upgraded to felonies during a hearing in Superior Court this week.
