An I-95 overpass is getting a multi-million dollar overhaul in Connecticut, which may lead to lengthy delays for drivers passing through the area. The Connecticut State Department of Transportation announced plans to replace the Route 1 overpass at exit 9 in Stamford with a new steel and concrete structure over the summer. Two lanes were shut down on I-95 on Wednesday afternoon, temporarily tying up traffic in Fairfield County when a tractor-trailer went up in flames. A single-vehicle, rollover crash on I-84 has resulted in serious injuries for two individuals involved, authorities say. The crash occurred late in the evening on Monday, Jan. 28 in Danbury. Danbury Fire Dispatch received a number of calls reporting an overturned vehicle on I-84 eastbound prior to Exit 3, according to James Gagliardo of the Danbury FD. Two Face Charges After Stops At Stamford Sobriety Checkpoint
Two local men are facing charges after police conducted a sobriety checkpoint in Stamford late Friday night into early Saturday morning.The checkpoint was at 626 Glenbrook Road and began around 11:30 p.m. and lasted more than an hour. Charged were: Mamuka Simonishvilli, 52, of Bedford Street, Stamford, operating under the influence and possession of marijuana. William Potolicchio, 64, of Hubbard Avenue, Stamford, operating under the influence and possession of marijuana. The detail was made possible through a grant from the Connecticut Department of Transportation.
