The 44-year-old father of three from Connecticut accused of killing his wife, children and family dog in Florida was reportedly being accused by federal investigators for insurance fraud over the span of several years.

Man Strangles Kitten To Death During Bridgeport Domestic Incident, Police Said
A Bridgeport man is on the run after allegedly strangling an 8-week-old kitten to death during a domestic incident with his girlfriend.
The kitten was killed around 12:45 a.m., Friday, July 12, when Charles Brookins, age unknown, arrived home on Spring Street in Bridgeport, intoxicated, and assaulted the woman and strangled the kitten to death, said Terron Jones, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police Department.
When police arrived on the scene, Brookins had already fled from the home, Jones said.

Veterinarian Charged With Animal Cruelty, Fraud In Bridgeport
A local veterinarian has been arrested for animal cruelty after injuring a kitten, and then performing surgery on a dog that wasn't needed and almost starving the animal to death, said the Bridgeport Police.
Dr. Amr Wasfi, 74, the owner of Black Rock Animal Center, in Bridgeport, was arrested on a warrant on Thursday, May 2, and charged with animal cruelty and fraud in the case that almost killed a dog who was taken to the doctor for help when he was limping, said the Bridgeport Police.
