The youngest members of the Shippan Racquet Club dominated their competition in matches this past weekend. The 14-and-Under Intermediate Shippan Hurricanes swept all the courts against the Greenwich Racquet Club, winning 70-12. The Hurricanes are in third position and hoping to hold that spot moving forward to the championships.
Charlie Brooks of Darien took the No. 1 singles court with a 4-0, 4-0 sweep. Harrison Walter, Nicholas Knebel and Jack O'Shea, all from Darien, also took their singles matches, 4-0, 4-0. Sophia Gould of Stamford won her singles match, 4-1, 4-0.
In doubles, Harrison Walter and Allegra Molkenthin, both of Darien, won their mixed doubles match, 4-0, 4-0. Sophia Gould of Stamford paired with Amanda Sload of Darien to win a nail-biting match in a third-set tiebreaker.
The 12-and-Under Shippan Wild fires defeated the Middlebury Smashers with a final match score of 24-4. The Wild Fires have one match left.
The Wild Fires won four out of the five singles matches. Matt Masi of Stamford gave up only one game. Clark Davis of Stamford and Luke Uhlman of Darien took home an easy win, 4-0, 4-0. The young team continues to earn victories to secure a top position.
The 10-and-Under Junior Team Tennis, the Shippan Tornados defeated the New Haven Super Stars, 24-4. The Tornados have been on a winning streak and have only one match left to play.
George James of Stamford and Wassim Diouri of Riverside took their singles match, 4-0. The teammates also paired in a doubles match for a victory. Diouri also teamed with Shiloh Williamson of Stamford to take a doubles match, 4-0.
