Shippan Racquet Club's young tennis stars continue to rake in the wins with a third team clinching a postseason berth. The 10-and-Under Shippan Tornados clinched a spot in the Regional Championships with a convincing win over the Norwalk Stars in Darien on Sunday. The Tornados took the match, 22-6, and improved to 7-1 on the winter-spring season.
Aiden Reilly and Terry McGrath of Stamford and Wassim Diuori of Riverside all swept their singles matches, 4-0. George James of Stamford won his singles, 4-1, and paired with Diuori to win their doubles match, 4-1.
The young team played excellent matches, putting their heads in the game to come out on top again. The Tornados are now in first place in their flight and will be going to the championships in New Haven in August.
