The Shippan Racquet Club 14-and-Under (Advanced) Stormers secured a spot in the state youth championships Sunday by defeating the Trumbull Racquet Club Cougars Cougars, 64-18. The Stormers took seven of the nine courts they played.
Anna Rogers of Stamford took the girls No. 1 spot with a 4-0, 4-0 sweep. She then paired with Lindsey Evans of Fairfield in doubles action for another 4-0, 4-0 win. Alex Kane of Darien also swept his court in convincing fashion, with a 4-0, 4-0 win. Milo Lempert of Stamford, Alex Berardino and Arthur Cassidy of Darien, Anna Daccache of Riverside and Carlos Mauleon of New Canaan also played well for the Stormers, helping to secure the win.
It was the last Fairfield County match of the season for the Stormers. The youth state championships will be held in New Haven in August.
