Report: Darien Coach Suspended Through Playoffs

DARIEN, Conn. – Lisa Lindley, head coach of the Darien High School girls lacrosse team, has been suspended for the remainder of the season, according to an online report by the Darien Times. The Times reported that captains of the team were notified in an email by Darien High Athletic Director Mike Sullivan that Lindley will not be on the sidelines for the rest of the state playoffs.

The email went on to indicate, however, that Lindley will not be fired and will return to the team next season.

The Times also reported that the coach was indeed suspended for her actions during the conference championship game on May 25. Lindley was seen grabbing and shoving goalie Caylee Waters by the helmet and yelling at her during a time out early in the game. Darien went on to win the conference title over Greenwich, 17-14.

Darien Superintendent of Schools Stephen Falcone confirmed to The Darien Daily Voice that Lindley had been placed on administrative leave with pay. Multiple calls and an email to Sullivan were not returned.

Darien travels to archrival New Canaan on Monday in the Class M state quarterfinals for a 5 p.m. game. The Blue Wave is aiming for back-to-back state titles and its sixth overall, all of which have come under Lindley.
