Darien ended the Greenwich girls swim team's reign atop the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference in 2009. It was the first time in 35 years a team other than the Cardinals won the league title.
Friday, the Cardinals recaptured their spot as the league's elite team with a 106-80 over the Blue Wave at the Darien YMCA. Greenwich captured all three relay races and won seven of nine individual events to stay undefeated. Lauren Church won the 100 freestyle, 100 backstroke and swam the opening leg on the winning 200 medley relay team for the Cardinals. Other individual winners included Erin Calderoni (200 freestyle), Katie Evans (200 individual medley), Morgan Karetnick (100 butterfly), Jesse Evans (500 freestyle) and Olivia Leunis (100 breaststroke).
Darien's individual winners included Alexandra Ashcraft in diving and Catherine Treesh in the 50 freestyle.
