Darien's Elizabeth Fitzpatrick continues to make waves in the national diving scene. Competing for the Whirlwind Diving team based at the New Canaan YMCA, Fitzpatrick won gold medals in the 1- and 3-meter competitions in the girls 12- to 13-year-old division at the Lord of the Boards Invitational last month in Bridgewater, N.J.
Whirlwind teammate Justin Sodokoff of Greenwich won the boys 11-and-under divisions. Joe Somma coaches the Whirlwind team.
Kylie Towbin of New Canaan took second in the girls 12-13 age division's 3-meter board, and third on the 1-meter board. Katie Warburg of Wilton won the girls 16-18 age division's 1-meter event.
Robert Christensen won gold on the boys 1-meter in the 12-13 age group, and silver on the 3-meter. Steven Kreuch, Jackson McGoldrick, Timothy Luz, Margaret Rogers and Jake Bowtell also brought home medals for Whirlwind.
The New Canaan-based squad won the men's team title with 272 points. The women's team finished fourth. Whirlwind was third overall in a field of 13 teams.
