Fairfield won its opening game in the Section 1 Little League softball tournament while Darien lost in games Thursday at Unity Park in Trumbull.
Fairfield defeated District 5 champion Bristol, 6-0, while Darien fell to District 3 champion Seymour, 15-3. Darien and Fairfield are scheduled to meet Friday at 5:50 p.m. at Unity.
The Section 1 finals are scheduled for Wednesday. The winner advances to the best-of-3 state championship series against the Section 2 champion at Danbury beginning July 16. The Connecticut Little League website has complete schedules and scores.
