Darien's Kat Collins and Riverside's Shannie MacKenzie earned Ivy League honors after helping Dartmouth's women's lacrosse team earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Collins, a senior attack, was named the Ivy League's Player of the Year. She scored 33 goals and picked up 10 assists for Dartmouth, 11-4. Collins was a first team All-Ivy choice in 2009 before missing half of the 2010 season with an injury.
Mackenzie, a co-captain, anchored the Big Green's defense. It was her second first-team selection as Dartmouth had the nation's sixth-ranked scoring defense. She was named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week on April 25.
Several other players from Main Street Connect communities play for Dartmouth, including freshman Liz Calby (Darien), sophomore Kyra Hansson (Wilton), freshman Amy Drummond (Wilton), freshman Anjalie Christie (New Canaan), sophomore Courtney Bennett (Darien) and sophomore Han Bowers (Greenwich).
Dartmouth is seeded 10th in the 16-team NCAA Tournament field. It meets No. 7 Albany in the first round on Sunday. This is Dartmouth's first NCAA appearance since 2006. The Big Green lost to Harvard in the Ivy League semifinals but was awarded an NCAA at-large berth.
