DARIEN, Conn. -- About 35 moms whose children attend Royle Elementary School in Darien organized an event to kick off the holiday season at Julia Deane Culinary Works. 

They met in Dean's kitchen design showroom at DEANE Inc. to socialize with friends, eat, learn a few cooking skills and create new holiday appetizer recipes to take home to friends and family.
