Christa McNamara and David Martens placed first and second on the ballot, respectively, to beat the Democrats in the four-person race. Democrat Callie Sullivan joins them on the board as the third-place vote-getter on the ballot, edging running mate Shannon Silsby.
First Selectman Jayme Stevenson easily won her second term Tuesday, as she was running unopposed. Write-in candidate Chris Noe received 51 votes to Stevenson’s 3,012.
Republicans Gerry Nielsen and Susan Marks and Democrats E. Reilly Tierney and Christopher “Kip” Hall also earned spots on the five-person board.
Kathy Larkins won Darien’s other major contested race, for Tax Collector. The incumbent Republican defeated Democratic challenger Tom Valentino with 2,642 votes to his 800.
The town’s turnout was nearly 30 percent Tuesday, according to the official results. A total of 3,659 voters cast ballots in Darien this year, out of 12,249 registered voters.
