The 69-year-old, co-founder of Michael Kors clothing label, made the announcement Tuesday on his Facebook page, said the report.

Stamford banker August Wolf and State Rep. Dan Carter of Bethel, have already declared their candidacy for the Republican Party nomination, according to the Connecticut Post.

The three are vying to challenge Democrat Richard Blumenthal, a first-term senator, in the November election, reported the Connecticut Post.

Orchulli ran once before for the Senate but lost to Chris Dodd in 2004, said the report.
