Darien Police responded to the Darien Playhouse on Post Road for a report of a theft on Friday, March 29 around 8 p.m.
The victim told police that she visited the theater to see a movie that started at 6 p.m. When the movie ended around 8 p.m., police say she said that she went to the bathroom with her daughter and realized that she left her purse inside the theater.
Police said she asked theater employees about her purse, and they told her that someone had turned it in.
When the purse was returned, the woman stated that her wallet was missing, police said.
A theater employee discovered the wallet later, but according to police, it was missing $200 in cash.
