Darien Police say they observed the driver of a red Ford pickup truck traveling down the Exit 11 Northbound off-ramp on Saturday, Sept. 28 around 2:40 a.m.

The driver failed to stop at a red light and then continued traveling across Post Road onto the Entrance 11 Northbound on-ramp, police say.

The officer continued to follow the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop after he allegedly observing the vehicle swerving in its lane.

While speaking with the driver, identified as Tyler Holder, 26, of Stamford, police say they detected an alcoholic odor coming from the vehicle.

Holder’s eyes were also bloodshot and glassy, and he was speaking with slurred speech, according to police.

Holder was subsequently asked to participate in a series of field sobriety tests, which police say he did not pass.

Holder was arrested and charged with operating under the influence and failure to obey a traffic signal. He refused a breathalyzer test, was released on a $100 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
