Police are on the lookout for a man who allegedly stole a cash register during a robbery at a restaurant in Darien.
Darien Police say they responded to Chipotle (71 Post Road) on a report of a burglary in progress around 12 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27.
A security company monitoring the CCTV system inside the restaurant reportedly told dispatchers that they could see a black male wearing gray sweatpants and a black hooded sweatshirt “trashing” the interior of the business.
Officers arrived on the scene and were allegedly unable to locate the suspect, who appeared to have gained entry to the building by breaking a glass side door.
Further investigation and a search of the premises revealed that the cash register had been forcibly removed and was missing, police say.
There was no money in the register at the time of the burglary, restaurant employees allegedly told police, and detectives responded to the scene to process evidence. No arrests have been made.
