DARIEN, Conn. — A 31-year-old Stamford man who threatened to shoot a Darien woman was arrested on multiple charges on Sunday, Aug. 6, police said.

Darien officers responded to a home on Allen O’Neill Drive in Darien on a report of a domestic disturbance, police said. The victim told officers that she had received a phone call from Habacuc "James" Rene of Stamford during which he threatened to shoot her, police said.

His threats were overhead by a second person in the home, police said.

Officers contacted Rene, who declined to cooperate with the investigation, police said. He later arrived at police headquarters on his own volition and denied that he had spoken to the victim on the phone or made any threatening remarks, police said.

Officers developed probable cause that he had made the phone call and threatened the victim, police said.

Rene was placed under arrest and charged with first-degree harassment and second-degree threatening. He was released on $25,000 bond for an Aug. 7 court appearance.
