Spree Of Car Break-Ins Reported In Darien Neighborhood

DARIEN, Conn. -- Several residents of Thomasina Lane in Darien awoke on Friday morning to find that someone had entered their unlocked cars, according to police.

The car burglaries were all reported between 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday, July 14. The first report came in from a resident who said that sometime overnight, their 2017 Lexus and 2011 Toyota 4Runner were entered. Both cars were left unlocked, and approximately $5 in loose change was taken from each vehicle.

Another resident reported that his 2011 Honda Pilot had been left unlocked and entered overnight. A pocketknife of unknown value was taken from the glove box, which was found open, police said.

The owner of a 2017 Toyota Sienna reported that about $10 in loose change had been taken from the glove box of her car, which had been left unlocked, according to police.

That afternoon the owner of a 2013 Tesla and a 2009 Jeep Wrangler reported that his two vehicles had been entered overnight. Both cars had been left unlocked, and their glove boxes were found open, but nothing appeared to have been taken, according to police.

Police said the investigation into these burglaries is ongoing.
