At around 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29, an officer saw a car driving on Old Kings Highway South without a front license plate. The car was stopped, and while speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the car, police said. When asked about it, the driver said he had the remnants of a marijuana cigarette in his ashtray.
K-9 Kenny conducted a free air sniff of the car and indicated the presence of drugs, police said. A search of the car turned up a plastic baggie under a child's seat in the backseat. The bag contained 22 grams of marijuana, police said.
The driver was issued a misdemeanor summons for possession of more than a half-ounce of marijuana and no license plate.
