Darien Restaurant's Garage Goes Up in Flames

DARIEN, Conn. – A garage on the Darien-Stamford line owned by Water’s Edge at Giovanni’s restaurant was extensively damaged by fire early Tuesday. The cause of the blaze was still undetermined, Darien Fire Marshal Bob Buch said.

The Noroton Heights Fire Department and the Noroton Fire Department responded to the call, which came in at 12:23 a.m. A Stamford resident reported seeing the two-story, two-car Purdy Lane garage in flames. The garage is used to store items such as tables and chairs.

The fire started on the outside of the building and spread to the second floor, Buch said. Responders put out the fire in about 45 minutes. There were no injuries, but the building sustained extensive damage.
