Contractor Dies After Fall From Scaffolding At House In Darien

DARIEN, Conn. -- A contractor died Monday after falling from a scaffolding at a home under construction in Darien, police said.

Police received a 911 call at 12:51 p.m. reporting that a contractor had been injured as a result of an apparent fall at a single-family home under construction on Nearwater Lane, police said. When officers arrived, along with personnel from Darien and Stamford EMS, they found an unconscious man at the rear of the residence with a visible head injury, according to police.

No other workers or people on site witnessed the event leading to the injury, but police said it appears the man had fallen from a scaffolding directly above the location where he was found.

He was taken to Stamford Hospital by Darien EMS, where we was pronounced deceased, according to police. 

Police said the man's identification is being withheld pending notification of his family. The incident remains under investigation, and police said no additional information will be released at this time.
