Surveillance photos showed the suspect in the June 12 robbery at the Chase Bank at 454 Post Road was a heavy-set black man with tattoos on his face, police said.
Since then, Darien detectives have been working with detectives from Waterbury, Westport and Pawtucket, R.I., where similar bank robberies were committed by the same suspect, police said. The FBI New Haven Office also offered assistance, police said.

Alpha U. Jalloh of 2185 New England Throughway, Apt 3F, the Bronx, N.Y., was identified as a suspect in bank robberies in Darien as well as in the three other towns, police said.
Darien police applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for Jalloh for the June bank robbery, police said. He was taken into custody by the FBI in New York City, police said.
Darien detectives went to New York City, where Jalloh was interviewed about the June 12 robbery in Darien as well as about another bank robbery July 11 at the Chase Bank at 165 Noroton Ave.
On Aug. 14, Jalloh was taken into custody by members of the Darien Patrol and Detective divisions from the New York City courts, and extradited back to Darien.
He was charged with second-degree robbery, second-degree larceny and third-degree burglary with a firearm (or inferring possession of one).
Jalloh was held on $200,000 bond and transported to Stamford court on Aug. 15.
Darien police believe the July 11 bank robbery is related to the June robbery in town and possibly to incidents in other towns.
The investigation into the second bank robbery is continuing.
