Police told the Darien Times that the man received the call on Feb. 7 instructing him to send $110 wire transfer, which he did completing a Walmart to Walmart transfer. After telling his daughter he won the prize, she became concerned and contacted police, said the Darien Times.
Police contacted the person who made the call, which was a group operating under the name Winner’s National in partnership with the Nebraska Lottery, police told the Darien Times. The caller, who called himself Dean White, told police he was a Christian man and then became combative on the phone, the Darien Times reported. An address provided to police for the company, proved to be fake, added the Darien Times.
