Lawrence C. Wood, 66, Former Darien Resident

NEW MILFORD, Conn. - Lawrence C. Wood, a resident of New Milford, formerly of Darien, died Monday, Sept. 15. He was 66.

Wood was born Feb. 4, 1948, in Hartford, to Arthur and Mary (O'Connor) Wood. He was raised in Darien and graduated from Darien High School. He worked for Metro-North Railroad and retired at the age of 60. He was also a veteran of the Noroton Heights Fire Department.

Wood is survived by his wife, Ellen Wood; children, Kevin Wood of New Milford, Melissa Wood and her fiancé, Jason Linnell of Bethel and Shannon Wood also of New Milford; a grandson; and brothers, Douglas Wood of Maryland and Brian Wood of Rowayton. He was predeceased by his parents; and son, Christopher Wood.

Calling hours are Sunday, Sept. 21 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22 at St. John R.C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
