STAMFORD, Conn. Kendall "Ken" G. Getman of Stamford died July 10. He was 96.
He was born Oct. 17, 1915, in Cortland, N.Y., to Arthur and Fredella Babcock Getman. Raised in Albany, N.Y., Getman graduated from Alfred University and served in the U.S. Army from 1942-45. He raised a family in Darien from 1947-99 before moving to Edgehill in Stamford.
Getman worked as an acquisitions editor for science textbooks published by Wiley and Sons from 1939-56. He later worked at Holt, Reinhart and Winston from 1956-80 before retiring. Getman was an active member of the Noroton Presbyterian Church for 65 years.
He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Getman Mack, of Weld, Maine, and Ann Getman, of Cambridge, Mass.
There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. July 31 at the Noroton Presbyterian chapel in Darien. Burial in Richfield Springs, N.Y., will be private. Edward Lawrence Funeral Home in Darien is handling the arrangements.
