Tractor-Trailer Crash Blocks Lanes Of I-95 At Darien-Stamford Border

3 p.m. update: DARIEN, Conn. — Traffic was backed up for over 7 miles on northbound I-95 — from Greenwich into Darien — after a tractor-trailer vs. car accident Wednesday, , the Connecticut Department of Transportation said.

As of 2:30 p.m., traffic was slowed to Exit 3 for Arch Street in Greenwich due to the accident between Exits 9 and 10 at the Stamford-Darien border, DOT said. 

It was not clear how long it would take to clear the accident scene, DOT said.

original story: DARIEN, Conn. — A tractor-trailer vs. car accident was blocking three lanes of the road on I-95 northbound at the Stamford-Darien border on Tuesday afternoon, the Connecticut Department of Transportation said.

The traffic is tied up for more than 4 miles between Exits 6 and 10 because of the crash between Exits 9 and 10, DOT said. 

Only one lane was open in the area at about 1:30 p.m., DOT said. The crash occurred at about 1:05 p.m., DOT said.

Traffic tie-ups were also reported in the southbound lanes of I-95 for about 1.7 miles near the crash scene, DOT said.

It was not clear how long it would take to clear the accident scene, DOT said. There were no further details on the accident or whether there were any injuries.
