Strong Winds Cause Power Outages In Fairfield County

update: FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Most of the power outages have been restored. Eversource is repairing the last few reported problems.

updated: FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Eversource is reporting a number of power outages across Fairfield County on Wednesday morning due to strong wind gusts. 

The power outages include, as of 9:30 a.m.: 

  • Danbury: 22
  • Darien: 6 
  • Greenwich: 12, down from 30 
  • New Canaan: 20
  • Norwalk: 47
  • Wilton: 11 

Some of the power outages first occurred Tuesday night.

Wind gusts of 44 mph were reported Tuesday afternoon at Sikorsky Airport in Bridgeport and 42 mph at the Danbury Airport. Blustery conditions were expected to continue Wednesday. 

It was not known when power would be restored.
