Stamford Car Chase Ends In Crash On Darien Lawn

DARIEN, Conn. – A high-speed pursuit of a stolen car from Stamford ended with the car crashing onto the front lawn of a Darien house. The driver then fled on foot, police said.

A rented car was reported stolen on the night of Jan. 25. State police spotted the car driving on I-95 and attempted to stop it, but it continued on, police said.

A Darien officer, unaware of the chase, saw it speeding onto Dickinson Road from Post Road. The Darien officer tried to catch up to the car, which stuck an embankment and landed on the lawn of a Dickinson Road house. The car suffered some front-end damage, and the driver got out and ran away, police said.

A K-9 unit from the New Canaan Police Department was called in, but was unable to locate the suspect. The car was towed to Stamford, and the Stamford Police are still investigating the incident.
