Rugged Bear Thief Strikes Again

Seven articles of clothing were stolen Tuesday from the Rugged Bear clothing store, the manager reported to the police. A woman was seen browsing the small girl's clothes section. Afterward, there were seven empty hangers, and three shirts and four pairs of pants, worth a total of $105, were missing. Employees attempted to follow the woman, but lost sight of her in the parking lot. A woman matching the same description was seen in the store three weeks prior. In that situation, fourteen hangers were reported empty after the woman left, once again in the small girl's clothing section. That time, store employees did not notify the police.

Also from the police blotter:

• A blue Fuji woman's bicycle was stolen from a garage on Old King's Highway. The owner of the house went to his garage at 1 p.m. and noticed that his wife's bicycle was missing from the beam from which it was usually hung. The bike, which was worth $350, was rarely used and last observed by the owner on Sept. 16. The garage door where the bicycle was kept was usually left closed.

• David Desanctis of Huckleberry Lane was arrested Saturday and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Police arrested Desanctis after he was involved in a minor motor vehicle accident, for which he was not at fault. At 11:45 a.m., an officer at the scene detected the strong odor of marijuana from inside Desanctis' 2005 Subaru Legacy. Police reported they found about a gram of marijuana in a gym bag, along with rolling papers, an eyeglass case with vials containing marijuana residue, and small metal objects used to grind the marijuana. Desanctis was released on a promise to appear in court on Sept. 28.

• Thomas Paul, 39, of Hollow Tree Ridge Road was arrested Sunday and charged with assault in the 3rd degree, unlawful restraint in the 2nd degree, and breach of peace. Police responded to Paul's house at 2 p.m. after receiving a call from a hysterical woman, claiming Paul had beaten her. The woman said that the argument began after Paul accused her of stealing his car keys, wallet, cell phone and passport. Police reported that they detected the odor of alcohol on Paul when they responded to the scene. Paul was arrest, and later posted a $1,500 bond.
