Metro-North Delayed After Beeping Cellphone Causes Evacuation In Darien

DARIEN, Conn. – Service was delayed on the New Haven Line on Thursday morning after a train was evacuated at the Noroton Heights train station in Darien because of a beeping cellphone, according to the Stamford Advocate and Metro-North.

Riders of the Hudson Line of the Metro-North should expect delays and time changes over the weekend during construction on the line.

Residual delays of 10 to 15 minutes were seen between South Norwalk and Stamford due to the earlier police activity, Metro-North said.

A lost cellphone wedged between the seat and the wall of a train car began beeping at about 7:10 a.m., the Advocate reported.

The train was held at Noroton Heights while a canine unit searched the cars before passengers were allowed to re-board and continue on to Grand Central, a Metro-North official told the Advocate.
