Man Applies for Job, Steals Tip Jar

Zachary Hession, 20, of Old Kings Highway South, was arrested Saturday and charged with sixth-degree larceny after he admitted to stealing the tip jar from Michael Joseph Catering after ordering a sandwich and applying for a job. The whole event was caught by a surveillance camera. Hession allegedly can be seen entering the store and ordering a sandwich, then removing a few bills from the tip jar and placing them in his pocket. He is believed to have used the money to pay for his sandwich.

A few minutes later, after filling out a job application, he removed the entire tip jar and put it in the back part of the waistband of his pants. When police were called, they got Hession's personal information from the application and went to his home. After arriving home, Hession admitted that he stole the tip jar, containing $34.50, which was returned to the caterer. Hession posted $250 bond and is due in court Sept. 21.
