Fairfield County Local Shopping Website Expands

Shop the Gold Coast, a campaign in Fairfield County based on buying local and giving back to the schools and the community, was launched in March and already has more than 20 local merchants as members, says founder Denise El-Tayyeb.

School fundraisers are held the first and third week of every month Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. To participate in a school fundraiser, a shopper visits the website at www.shopthegoldcoast.com and clicks on the school fundraiser tab. Then scroll down to find your school, click on it, find the merchants' offering, print the voucher and take it with you to the store.Stamford businesses that have signed up with Shop the Gold Coast include Agabhumi, Cartridge World, Crazy Grapes, Prestige Cleaners, Kaleidoscope, Empress Travel, Nick's Pizza and Bacco, Pacific Swim Bike Run, Sila Heating and Air Conditioning, and Sign's Pro.In Darien, it has signed on Chunky Pam's Sweet Shoppe, Fuji of Japan, Glen Fine Wine & Liquor, Height's Pizza, Learning Express, Miceli Insurance, Tasti D-Lite and Runner's Roost.

Shop the Gold Coast has also partnered with Cartridge World in Danbury, Grasso Construction in Norwalk, Agabhumi and Learning Express in Westport and Butterflies and Zebras in Ridgefield.It recently added a local causes feature. Those interested in submitting a local cause to be considered should email info@shopthegoldcoast.com. The concept is the same, you click on the local cause and print out the voucher and take it with you to a merchant and a portion will be donated.
