DARIEN, Conn. Darien will host a forum on power outages and what can be done to reduce their frequency and duration. Power Struggle: Balancing the Needs of People, Power and Trees will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 28 at Darien Town Hall.
The forum will include a representative from Connecticut Light & Power; Joseph McGee from the governors Two-Storm Panel; Jonathan Schrag, deputy commissioner for energy; Eric Hammerling, executive director of the Connecticut Forest and Park Association; and Chris Roy from the Concord Municipal Light Plant.
Possible new laws that the Connecticut General Assembly could enact to address power supply issues also will be discussed. A question-and-answer period will follow the panelists presentations.
The forum is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Darien, Fairfield, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk and Stamford; Greenwich Tree Conservancy; Fairfield Forestry Committee; Norwalk Tree Alliance; Stamford Tree Foundation; and the Tree Conservancy of Darien.
