Darien Police Rescue Stranded Boaters

DARIEN, Conn. – Two Stamford residents whose 20-foot boat was taking on water and sinking in Long Island Sound were rescued by Darien Police marine division officers. Responding to a June 28 distress call, the Darien police boat found the endangered boat about a mile offshore. Members of the Stamford patrol also responded. Darien police began pumping out water and then towed the boat to shore.

• Andrew Winter, 18, was arrested Friday, July 1, and charged with supplying alcohol to minors. Police said they received a call on their anonymous underage drinking tip line about a party at Winter's house. When police arrived, they found about 15 teenagers walking back and forth from the main house to the garage. Many ran into the woods behind the house. Officers found a beer pong setup and empty beer cans in the garage. Police said Winter's mother was asleep and unaware of what was going on. Winter was arrested and released on a promise to appear in court July 11.
