DARIEN, Conn. Try some of Darien's new restaurants or revisit some old favorites this week during the Darien Chamber of Commerce's third annual Restaurant Week.
It gives people a chance to try some fun new food, said Carol Wilder-Tamme, president of the Darien Chamber of Commerce. Wilder-Tamme said that this week the chamber is also celebrating its Indoor Sidewalk Sale, where stores will be offering special sales. Theres lots of great restaurants and stores participating, so you can dine and then shop, she said.
At the Goose on Post Road, Heather Henson said early Monday afternoon that diners were arriving to try out some of the special lunches. The $15.12 lunch menu includes a grilled chicken sandwich, balsamic glazed shrimp salad and pasta primavera. For dinner, you can order chicken marsala, blackened shrimp and grits, or bucatini pasta.
Its a good way for people to get a taste of the Goose, Henson said.
Darien Social just opened last week, but executive chef Nick Bilello has participated in similar events in Norwalk, where he opened Burger Bar and Bistro. Its a good opportunity for people to get out and check out the new restaurant.
Bilello said the restaurant will offer a $10.12 lunch and $20.12 dinner, and will have a different array of appetizers every day, such as onion soup, deviled eggs or custom salads. There will also be a choice of any of the restaurant's burgers or sandwiches, pizza, fish and chips or roasted chicken, as well as desserts like milk and cookies.
Tim Fischer of Chucks Steakhouse said the restaurant will offer a $25.12 dinner that includes a salad, a 12-ounce top sirloin steak or 12-ounce New York strip steak, a choice of vegetables, rice or baked potatoes as well as dessert.
Its always been a very positive experience for us, Fischer said. We love Restaurant Week, and were hoping for a good turnout again this year.
The other restaurants participating are Backstreet Restaurant, Café DAzur, Cescos Trattoria, Coromandel, Phils Grill, Robeks Juice, Rorys Restaurant, Scena Wine Bar and Restaurant and the Melting Pot.
