DARIEN, Conn. -- The charges against Rob Morrison, a Darien resident and former WCBS-TV news anchor in New York City, were dropped during a court appearance in Stamford on Thursday, according to the Darien News Online

A judge vacated the guilty pleas from Morrison on charges of choking his wife, television journalist Ashley Morrison, in their Darien home, the Darien News Online said. He has completed a 26-week program for people arrested in family violence incidents in exchange, the report said.

He had been charged with second-degree threatening and breach of peace.

Morrison was arrested early on Feb. 17, 2013, in what police called a domestic altercation. In a court appearance on Feb. 19, 2013, he denied choking his wife at their Darien home.

"I did not choke my wife. I've never laid my hands on my wife. I was just as surprised by that particular charge as probably everybody else who's heard about this story," Morrison told reporters before being arraigned early last year.

Morrison had a bruised lip and a mark on his nose after his arrest during that Feb. 19, 2013, court appearance. He declined to comment on how he received his injuries.

Darien police reported at the time of his arrest that Morrison's wife had red marks on her neck consistent with the allegations that her husband tried to choke her. He also continued to threaten her after being arrested, according to police reports.
