They competed for a $100,000 grand prize, $50,000 second prize and $25,000 third prize, the Darien Times said.
The teen contestants were required to take an online test, have an in-person interview and take a 50-question written exam and a screen test of buzzing in and answering questions, according to the Darien Times.
No details on the tournament or who won or lost can be reported until ABC airs the show this fall (tentatively scheduled for the weeks of Sept. 12 and 19), the Darien Times said.
