New Darien Caterer Wants to Help You Throw a Bash

DARIEN, Conn. – When Madalene d’Etiveaud opened Bash Event Planning in Darien, she was looking to create a one-stop shop for anyone putting together a party. Whether it's a fully catered and staffed event or if you just want to rent supplies, d’Etiveaud wants to help make every party a success.

“I can do as much or as little as my client wants,” d’Etiveaud said. Sometimes that means throwing the whole party together and supplying all the food. Sometimes it means offering ideas and helping a client set up.

“I really do enjoy the design aspect. For me, it’s more about creating an experience rather than supplying them with a platter of food.”

For a unique experience, you can rent her storefront on Tokeneke Road to hold an event. She said more and more customers have been throwing small wine tastings and dinner parties inside her showroom, which allows them to have the feel of a private party without having to disrupt their houses at all.

She can transform the showroom to accommodate individual parties. One couple who enjoy wine tastings recently booked the space for a dinner party, and d’Etiveaud is planning to decorate the space to fit the wine theme, with empty wine bottles and cases adding to the atmosphere.

“I like it because it really allows me to play with this space,” she said.

She got involved in the catering business while putting together fundraisers and events for her kids’ schools. Her dinners and cocktail parties were so popular with parents that her friends started to ask her for help setting up their parties. Eventually, she decided to make a career out of it.

D’Etiveaud also rents out her kitchen for cooking classes and is planning to host a cooking class to kick off the summer.
