Some 700 Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts from Stamford, Darien, Norwalk, New Canaan and Wilton put their skills to the test during the “Battle of Hoyt” camporee in Redding last month.
The Powahay District’s Colonial-themed weekend encampment included starting campfires with flint and steel, cooking Revolutionary War-era meals; a two-man saw competition and throwing tomahawks.
Boys can join Scouting any time of the year. For information, go to beascout.org.
