Darien Agency Stages Holiday Toy Store Event To Benefit Low Income Families

DARIEN, Conn. -- For the 20th year, Person-to-Person staged the Holiday Toy Store at St. Luke's Youth and Community Center in Darien last week. More than 2,100 children from 947 families participated.

A community-supported agency, Person-to-Person helps clients achieve self-sufficiency through practical help, advocacy, education and problem solving initiatives.

For families struggling with basic necessities such as food and clothing, the holidays can be particularly stressful. At P2P's annual Toy Store, parents are able to select a free toy and book for each child plus a board game for the family. Gifts are chosen, wrapped and delivered straight from P2P’s on-site Toy Store in Darien.

Person-to-Person was established in 1968 to provide low-income individuals and families living in Lower Fairfield County with basic emergency services. With offices in Darien and Norwalk, the Person-to-Person service area includes Darien, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford, Weston, Westport and Wilton.

Other P2P programs include Emergency Assistance, Campership and Scholarship.
