The carjacking happened around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, in the 200 block of Woodrow Ave. in Fairfield’s Southport neighborhood. The thief got away with several Christmas presents intended for area residents.

The victim told investigators that a masked man climbed through the passenger door, threatened the driver with a gun, and then drove off with the truck, Fairfield police said. The driver was unharmed and quickly sought help from nearby residents to contact authorities.

Police located the stolen van abandoned near the intersection of Gray Rock Road and Daves Lane using a tracking app. Several packages inside the vehicle were missing, police said.

Fairfield police detectives are asking residents and businesses in the area with surveillance cameras to check for footage that may have captured the carjacking or any suspicious vehicles or people in the area at the time of the robbery.
