The Water’s Edge, on the Stamford/Darien border on Post Road, will celebrate on Sunday, Feb. 14, with a special menu, music and a chance for couples to renew their vows. Justice of the Peace Mary C. Pugh will officiate, and will even marry couples if they acquire the proper registration from Darien Town Hall.
“This is the sixth year we’ve done the vow ceremony,’’ said JoAnn Latorraca, who co-owns the restaurant with her husband, Sal. “It’s a wonderful time for all of the couples who want to renew their vows with a simple and elegant ceremony.”
The Valentine’s Day menu includes an appetizer and an assortment of entrees, including chateaubriand, prime rib, lobster tails, and Porterhouse for 2. Desert is also included in the meal, which costs $59 per person. The vow renewal or wedding ceremony is complimentary.
Guests will also be entertained by singer/entertainer Angelo Ruggiero, whose musical range stretches from classics by Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra to Neil Diamond and Billy Joel. Ruggiero also sings Neapolitan favorites.
Pugh describes herself as the top Justice of the Peace in Connecticut. She provides civil, contemporary, non-religious and unique ceremonies. She will officiate ceremonies from 5-8 p.m. Pugh is a resident of Norwalk.
The Water’s Edge at Giovanni’s opened in 1987. The restaurant is especially known for its steaks, which have won multiple awards. It also is a favorite because of its abundant meeting and event space, including six suites.
“We’re proud to be able to offer the vow renewal ceremony to the public,’’ Latorraca said. “It’s something that every worker in the restaurant enjoys being a part of. It’s just another way we can give back to a community that has supported us for so many years.”
