Darien Community Association Presents Charitable Giving Workshop

DARIEN, Conn. -- The Darien Community Association is bringing together two specialists to present “The Dual Power of Charitable Giving” on Thursday, April 7.

Learn how charitable giving can help reduce your taxes and benefit your favorite charities. During this seminar, you’ll learn: 

  • Ways to plan your charitable giving while considering tax benefits.
  • What are the IRS requirements for a charitable donation and what qualifies? Understand the different rules that apply, depending on type of property, and charitable use of property (including charitable auction donations).
  • Choosing between a Donor Advised Fund and Family Foundation, and more complex structures, such as charitable remainder unit trust. 

This session will be led by CRPC and CPA Karen Goersch of Ameriprise Financial, who will be joined by Cynthia Herbert, certified member, Appraisers Association of America. Coffee and pastries will be offered. 

The talk will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Register for $20 per person, or $10 for DCA members, by Tuesday, April 5, online at their website or by contacting the DCA at info@dariendca.org or 203-655-9050. Minimum enrollment is required in order to run this workshop. The DCA is located at 274 Middlesex Road in Darien.
