In a new study, Eversource was recognized on the magazine’s list of “America’s Most Responsible Companies.” It ranked first in the energy and utility category and was 72nd out of 2,000 companies that were evaluated.

Newsweek partnered with global data research firm Statista Inc. to publish its first ranking of America's Most Responsible Companies. Statista worked from a universe of 2000 public companies to determine which firms were tops when it came to doing good.

According to Statista, the methodology “was carried out in a four-phase process, with a pool of over 2,000 companies that were screened by different criteria.

The detailed analysis consisted of an independent survey among 6,500 U.S. citizens and research based on publicly available key performance indicators derived from Corporate Annual Reports, CSR Reports, Sustainability Reports, and Corporate Citizenship Reports.”

This marks Newsweeks first ranking of this kind. Eversource and other top companies from around the country were featured in the magazine late last year.

Eversource has also been recognized by Forbes magazine as the top utility company and 26th out of 1,000 companies evaluated for a similar study.

“We’re honored to be recognized for our corporate responsibility and commitment to the communities we serve and will continue to identify opportunities to give back to our community partners and neighbors," Eversource Chairman, President and CEO Jim Judge said.

"I’m most proud of the 8,000 hard-working men and women who work tirelessly on behalf of our customers every day – and I’d like to congratulate and thank our dedicated employees for achieving this national recognition."
