Federal authorities have charged a Connecticut man for the fourth time with mailing threatening letters to journalists, judges, and other public figures.
New Haven County resident Garrett Santillo, age 43, of Hamden, was arrested on Wednesday, July 6, on a federal criminal complaint charging him with mailing numerous threatening letters to individuals in Connecticut and elsewhere.

Man Who Killed Himself Sent Threatening Messages To Fairfield Women
A Pennsylvania man who sent threatening, sexually graphic letters to four Fairfield women killed himself during a police standoff.
Fairfield police believe Joseph Polin, 46, of Hazelton, Pa., who shot and killed himself last week after a five-hour standoff with police was responsible for putting four local women in fear for their lives, said Fairfield Lt. Michael Gagner.
Police learned of the letters, all sent on magenta-colored paper, to the women on April 12, Gagner said.
