Bridgeport Inmate Strangled, Death Rule Homicide, ME Says
A Connecticut man who was arrested for violation of probation was strangled in a cell in a Fairfield County jail.
Steven Bailey, age 43, of New Haven, was found dead in a Bridgeport Correctional Center cell around 7 a.m. on Sunday, May 26, according to the Connecticut State Police.
Milford Police had arrested Bailey on Wednesday, March 20, and he was being held for violation of probation on a prior conviction of obscenity with a minor.
State Police said after being found, Bailey was transported to St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport, where he was pronounced dead.

Woman Extradited From Jamaica For 2022 Bridgeport Murder, Police Say
A woman wanted in connection with the 2022 murder of a Fairfield County man has been extradited from Jamaica.
On Thursday, Sept. 7, members of the US Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force took 39-year-old Iyana Reynolds into custody in Jamaica for the Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022, murder of Andre Brown in Bridgeport.
Reynolds had an outstanding extraditable murder warrant out of Bridgeport, said Capt. Kevin Gilleran of the Brigeport Police.
Brown was found around 10 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022, after Bridgeport Police responded to 100 Marcel St. on the report of a party shot, Gilleran said.

Duo Nabbed With Drugs, Guns After Pursuit In Fairfield County, Police Say
A Connecticut couple was allegedly found with a large number of guns and fentanyl following a chase with police through Fairfield County.
The incident took place in Trumbull on Wednesday, Oct. 18.
According to Trumbull Police Lt. Brian Weir, officers arrested the occupants of a stolen Honda Passport after a short pursuit and recovered a number of drugs and two handguns during the apprehension.

Seven Officers Hospitalized After Chase Involving Wanted Fairfield County Woman
A Fairfield County woman wanted for a string of car robberies and other crimes was arrested after crashing into eight police vehicles, and injuring seven officers.
Hannah Casperson, age 25, of Brookfield, was arrested on Sunday, April 3, in Monroe.
The incident started in New Haven County in Waterbury around 8:45 a.m., Sunday police received information that Casperson, who was wanted for the robberies, and a host of other crimes was in the area in a white Hummer, said Lt. Ryan Bessette, of the Waterbury Police.

Police ID Two Men Found Dead In Basement Of Fairfield County Illegal After-Hours Club
Police have released the identities of two men found shot dead in the basement of an illegal after-hours nightclub in Fairfield County.
The men, 38-year-old Charles Dimples Barnes, of Bloomfield, in Hartford County, and Fairfield County resident Norman Charles Peters, age 40, of Stamford, were found around 1:55 a.m., Sunday, May 16, in Bridgeport, said Bridgeport PD Captain Kevin Gilleran.
The men were found in the basement of the club on Main Street after Bridgeport Police responded to a report of shots fired and found Barnes in the basement at the club, Gilleran said.

Teen Arrested After Accidentally Shooting Himself In Fairfield County, Police Say
A Fairfield County teen was arrested for allegedly shooting himself in the arm and then lied about where the event happened.
The incident took place around 1:15 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 21, when Bridgeport Police responded 324 Lyon Terrace for a report of a person shot, said Bridgeport Police Captain Kevin Gilleran.
During their investigation, detectives determined the teen lied about where he had been shot and that the actual crime scene was the location they had responded to, Gilleran said.

Speeding ATV Driver Injured After Hitting Turning Vehicle, Police Say
An ATV driver who was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed and slammed into a vehicle received non-life-threatening injuries.
Bridgeport Police were notified of the incident around 3:24 p.m., Wednesday, July 1, when the Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center received a report of a crash at the intersection of North Avenue and Sylvan Avenue, said Scott Appleby, director of the city's emergency management division.
